There is a championship tyro event taking place on Sunday 5th September 2010 at Roberton. The cost of the event is £25 for vehicle and first driver, £5 for second driver. Location of venue: OS Grid Reference of site entrance: NT392116 Multi Maps Link: http://www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=roberton&countryCode=GB#map=55.39486,-2.96039|15|4&dp=os&bd=useful_information&loc=GB:55.39415:-2.98017:15|TD9 Orange Arrows will also direct you to the site from Roberton. Scrutineering will take place from 08:30 to 09:30 and finish with signing on. Following a driver’s briefing the first car will start the first section at 10:00. We normally have a break for lunch and end mid-afternoon depending on number or competitors. A tyro trial is the entry level trial event that SORC runs. In addition to the above it also has the following characteristics Suitable for showroom condition vehicles on standard road tyres. Has strict rules applied by the MSA to limit the range of terrain over which the course is set including slope angle and water depth to ensure any risk is minimised as much as possible. Is designed to be totally non-damaging – no body contact with ground or other obstacles such as bushes or trees. Open to members aged 13 and above including those who do not hold a full driving licence. Unlicensed drivers may only drive the vehicle on the specific tyro stages and must be accompanied by someone who has experience of off road trial driving. Passengers are welcome as long as they are suitably seated and restrained. This makes tyros an excellent family event. Full event regulations and more information are available on the SORC website under the Forms & Downloads section – Event Regulations. As an affiliated MSA club the “Blue Book” that the MSA publish details many aspects of the competition that we must adhere to. The Blue Book section P “Cross Country Events” details the various aspects of trialling, including Tyros. If you wish to camp at the site the night before that is possible. Please let us know by posting a message on the forum link below. For more information see the forum topic @ http://www.scottishoffroadclub.co.uk/sorcforum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3102 |

The 2010 season seems to be flying by and we are at the penultimate round already! there's not many points in it amongst the top of the table so it is very much still all to play for! The next round will take place on the 11th & 12th of September at Cambusbarron, near Stirling. Another new site to the SCCC this year, but familiar to our Hillrally competitors from 2009. A cracking prospect of a course here as John Cockburn, who knows this site better than anyone, will be setting out the route and he knows a thing or two about a good comp safari course! 15 laps of between 4 and 5 miles on fast tracks and flowing hillside are scheduled over the two days. Ideal for spectators and the service crew too, as you can see the majority of the course from the service and camping area!
Full catering for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available on site too!
The programme:-
Friday 10th September: Camping area open, Course building starts at 10:30
Saturday 11th September: Marshals: Signing on 08:30 – 09:10, Marshals briefing 09:15, in position for 09:45
Competitors: Scrutineering and signing on: 08:30 – 09:30, Entry fee is £60 + donation of two prizes for the Marshals prize draw Drivers briefing: 09:45 Drive round lap: 10:00

Directions:- From the M80 or the M9 take junction 9, the exit for Stirling services, then from the big roundabout take the A872 for Whins of Milton, after about 1.5 miles take a left at the roundabout for the B8051, after about 400 yards turn left at the Lidl supermarket onto Weaver Row, following onto Torbrex Road for about ¾ mile then take a left onto Polmaise Road, onto the bridge over the Motorway then left again still following Polmaise Road all the way to a T junction and turn right. About ¼ mile on bear left following Gateside Road, site entrance is on the right about a mile further on. Orange arrows will be on the route from the A872.

Following the first meeting of the 2010 committee on Sunday 28th February we have produced the following events calendar. The dates and number of events are now fixed, however we need to achieve final confirmation from the land owners that the dates we have chosen for events is acceptable with them. In summary, there are 7 tyro events, of which 5 count towards the 2010 tyro championship, the other 2 will allow practice of tyro driving techniques and experience to be gained without the concern over affecting your championship standings. There are 5 RTV events and 3 treasure hunt events. The treasure hunt events will be suitable for both green class and red class vehicles i.e. standard vehicles will be suitable for the green areas of the treasure hunts.
